Draft Policy for "Second Level" Course Home Pages
2. At a minimum, second level course home pages will contain the following standard identification:
a. an update date
b. links at the bottom of the page to the PTE home page, the WSE home page, the JHUniverse home page, and the top level course home page indexc. Header indicating
1. Part-Time Programs in Engineering and Applied Science
2. Whiting School of Engineering
3. Johns Hopkins University
4. Instructor name
5. Course name and number, including section number
6. Degree program
3. Password protection will be applied to any pages with individual student information, including, but not limited to, grades, social security numbers, and any listing of students in the class.
4. Pages will follow generally accepted guidelines for style - including background color, font type and size, and gimmicks that take a long time to load. Links to personal home pages are strongly discouraged.
5. All second level course home pages shall contain the following statement about printing.
"We strongly encourage electronic posting and dissemination of material and we are sensitive to the environment and to the potential for overloading computer and printing systems. Therefore, we strongly discourage the use of university resources for printing copies of the material on these pages. Please limit your printing at university sites to pages of absolute necessity. All other printing should be done using your own resources."
6. Copyrights on World Wide Web pages -instructors are responsible for following established rules and guidelines to ensure that their web sites are free of copyright infringements. Although the university currently does not have a formal copyright policy for electronic materials, it is safe to assume that all creative material is copyrighted, regardless of whether or not a copyright notice is posted and regardless of the medium (electronic, print, video, etc) used for distribution. Copyrighted materials may be used on your pages with the permission of the work’s owner. Links to other pages may be included, but only if the links are not copied wholesale from a particular list of links, without permission. Work in the "public domain" may be used freely. This includes material with expired copyrights and items marked explicitly by the author. [ref. Checkbits, V.12 No.3, Jan/Feb,1997]
7. Suggested items for inclusion on the second level pages are:
